11 volumes, bound in the original light blue cloth over bevelled boards, gilt titled and decorated spines with pictorial upper covers in black, all edges gilt, original patterned endpapers. Several of the volumes are split or loose in the bindings, generally the bindings are loose (some with simple repairs), some pages detached. The contents of volume XIII is water stained. The covers overall are in good condition. Sold with all faults (W.A.F.).
Many well-known authors contributed to The Strand Magazine most notably Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Volume V, January to June 1893 contains the first appearance of eleven Sherlock Holmes 'adventures':

Most of these stories were later published in book form as The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. Numerous other works by Conan Doyle appear including Rodney Stone which was serialised in 1896 and appears in Volumes XI & XII.
