Each volume is contained in a custom built slip case designed by master craftsman Peter Carstens with red cloth covering, hand marbled paper edges, and leather trim. Complete set in seven volumes including the index. Volume three has the rare suppressed plate of Major-General A. Fitzroy Hart as well as the replacement portrait. See images of both plates, as well as close ups of the two portraits. Original red cloth boards with gilt titling and a medallion motif on the spines. 6 large folding maps in pockets. There is a huge amount of research material available in these volumes which have been checked: Battle plans, maps, illustrations, etc.. CONDITION DETAILS: The first 6 volumes have the Lambourne book plate. The spines are unevenly sunned, with some still bright red and others very sun faded. The Plate with Major-General Hart in profile (looking towards the viewer's right hand side), was loosely inserted and has some creases and edge wear
