2 volumes of the 7 volume set These two odd volumes are: iv and v. Both volumes are bound in the publisher\'s original red cloth boards with gilt titling and medallion decorations on the spines. All edges gilt. Volume 4: xviii prelims, 597 pages,17 photogravure plates, 17 plans and maps, many folding and fold out maps and plans followed by large folding maps of the Transvaal and the Orange Free State in the rear pocket. Volume 5: xxvii prelims, 614 pages, 9 photogravure plates, 25 maps and plans, followed by 3 large folding maps in the pockets. CONDITION DETAILS: Both volumes have fading to the gilt on the spines, and the bindings are a bit worn, bumped and shaken. Internally both volumes are internally reasonably clean, with little soiling, but some of the tissue guards are torn and some of the maps and plans have extra creases. Volume 4 has the engraved book plate of the Library of the Royal Artillery Institution on the front paste down and three purple library stamps on the first few pages, that do not affect the text. There is a blue piece of tape repairing the back hinge which is cracked.
