A very scarce 29 page booklet in attractive pictorial wraps with a decorative calligraphic letter and a Boer War related illustration for each letter of the alphabet. By Lady Celia Congreve, the wife of General Sir Walter Norris Congreve VC KCB who received the Victoria Cross for his role in the Battle of Colenso and later also fought in the First World War. A fine copy of this unusual item with a small neat inscription at the top of the front free endpaper. SABIB Vol. 1, Page 614, where only 3 copies are identified. Hackett has devoted a full page with a large illustration of this book in his Boer War bibliography (Page 36).

All profits from this publication were to be donated to The Transvaal War Funds.

Lady Congreve was also a noted poet and nurse in the First World War.

I have been unable to locate another copy of this book in the market and it appears not to have been reprinted.
