Mendelssohn (Sidney) South African Bibliography volume 2 page 113. This collection is presented 'mainly from the pro-Boer point of view. There are lengthy extracts' (inter alia) 'from Mr. Frederick Harrison's "Boer Republics", ... and an article on the "Cost and Waste of the War" (which were estimated by the compiler at a million and a half sterling per day) ... It is stated that the work was published with a view to influencing public opinion "in favour of a calmer and more just consideration of the claims of the Boer Republics to their Internal Independence."
