First edition. 277 pages, frontispiece, 9 plates, 2 folding maps, - the one at the end of the book is torn at a fold - but the map itself is unaffected, 1 double page map, original pictorial brown cloth, titled gilt on the spine which is faded, a good copy.

Mendelssohn (Sidney) South African Bibliography volume 2 page 199:This work contains considerable information respecting Portuguese East Africa, the author having visited Quilimane, Tete, and the Makanga Country, and being well acquainted with the Zambesi Delta. He criticises and compares the administration of British Nyassaland and that of the neighbouring Portuguese territory. There are several maps.
