First UK edition. 318 pages + 18 pages of publisher's adverts, frontispiece and 43 illustrations, 2 maps – 1 folding at the end, original rust cloth with titled gilt with a gilt vignette on the upper cover and titled gilt on the spine, starting to fray at the top and bottom of the spine, top edge gilt – now faded and marked, others uncut, light foxing on several pages of the text, a good copy.

Czech (Dr. Kenneth) An Annotated Bibliography of African Big Game Hunting Books 1785 – 1999, page 84: Dracopoli explored the region from Kismayu on the coast, then westward to the Lorian Swamp in British East Africa. In the Joreh district, he bagged oryx, gerenuk, arrola hartebeest, zebra and topi. Upon reaching the Lorian district, the author collected waterbuck and gazelle, but failed in his attempts after buffalo and rhinoceros. His descriptions of the terrain and climate are especially interesting.
