"The author and her husband traveled by paddle wheel up the Kasai River,

then trekked toward the Lomami River. There are instances of hunting

hippopotamus and water-buck, with elephant bagged near Lake Kivu.

On the Ruindi Plain, Mrs. Strickland collected lion, then returned to camp

'to enjoy a well-earned whiskey and soda.' Heading into the thick fastness

of the Ituri Forest, buffalo and additional elephant were take. An entertaining
