Constable & Co., London, 1912. Cloth & Gilt. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st. Edition. xvii + 305pp, fold-out map, 80 illustrations. Top edge gilt. Publisher's original brown & gilt boards slightly worn with Gilt vignette on front board.

Melland and Cholmeley set out from Kasama with the intention of traveling to the Nile. Passing through German East Africa near the shores of Lake Tanganyika, the pair bagged leopard and numerous crocodile with additional chapters on hunting elephant in the Masindi District in Uganda. An interesting work of travel and sport complete with numerous bicycle breakdowns.

The two authors actually used their bikes to avoid "foot-slogging", and were in fact on a safari accompanied by 60 porters carrying their equipment!
