First Edition, first impression hardcover Octavo bound in maroon cloth boards and has 296 pages.  Silver titles to the spine, together with original unclipped Fratini designed dust jacket showing the original price of 16s NET.

The boards have been well protected by the dust jacket with only minor bumping to the head and heal. The dust jacket is bright and clean, and still presents quite well in cellophane with light rubbing and a small tears along the edges.

The book has no inscriptions but there is light foxing primarily on the first and last few pages. Overall, the book is very clean internally; both the book and the binding are in very good condition.

Nelle Harper Lee (April 28, 1926 – February 19, 2016), better known by her pen name Harper Lee, was an American novelist widely known for To Kill a Mockingbird, published in 1960. Immediately successful, it won the 1961 Pulitzer Prize and has become a classic of modern American literature.

Though Lee had only published this single book, in 2007 she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her contribution to literature. Additionally, Lee received numerous honorary degrees, though she declined to speak on those occasions.

She was also known for assisting her close friend Truman Capote in his research for the book In Cold Blood (1966). Capote was the basis for the character Dill in To Kill a Mockingbird.
