First Edition hardcover Octavo bound in plum cloth boards and has 488 uncut pages. Gilt titles on the front board and to the spine.

Head and heal are bumped and has some rubbing along the edges. The book contains a frontispiece with a tissue guard, maps (Pre-Historic and Earliest Historic South Africa, A.D. 900), plans and numerous plates throughout.

Bookmark stain between pages 128 and 129, previous owner’s inscription on the front free end paper.

Overall, both the book and binding are in very good condition.
