Transvaal Study Circle-Handbook Series. Series Editor-A.R.Chilton. Volume III in Series.

This work describes and lists the railway stamps, stationery and station handstamps. The adhesives include both stamps produced to receipt payments for parcels, and stamps stencil-cut, overprinted or needle perforated especially for the use of the railway administration. The handstamps include those that were used only to identify the name of the station, date stamps used both by stations and post offices sited at stations, and the date stamps used by the various travelling post office services operating within and to or from the Transvaal.

The listings of both adhesives and handstamps have been compiled over a number of years with the assistance of many colleagues, particularily Helmuth Hagen and Stan Naylor who are the recognized authorities on the railway stamps of southern Africa.

There is plenty of interest for the railway enthusiast whether it b adhesives printed or overprinted for railway use, station handstamps, travelling post offices or postcards.
