Written in Dutch, this book is an account of the political developments in the Transvaal in the period 1876-1896, leading up to the Jameson Raid. A careful analysis of event is used to show up the aggressive stance of the British Colonial Government officials and the premeditated and planned nature of the Jameson Raid. In the part of the book headed Aanteekeningen en Ophelderingen, copies of official documents are given, including proclamations, and open letters from the Transvaal to Joseph Chamberlain (Colonial Secretary) and Queen Victoria, with a view to stating the honest and justifiable aspirations of the Transvaal people. Pages [1-3]4-144. Aanteekeningen en Ophelderingen pp [1-3]4-59. Bound in green with pressed frame and raised name plates. Top and lower edge of spine reinforced with green cloth strips. Gilt titles on front and spine bright and clear. New endpapers. Book pages slightly browned on edges.
