Rowland Ward and Co., Limited, London 1893. Large 8vo, xviii + 504pp. + publisher's catalogue. Profusely illustrated with black & white plates ad text illustrations. Hardcover, bound in original orange gilt-decorated cloth with black title to spine and gilt pictorial devices to spine and cover. In very good condition. Binding and hinges are intact and firm. Otherwise, contents are crisp, clean, and unmarked. Some scattered light foxing or tanning to edges of text-block and occasionally to margins. Slight shelf-wear or rubbing to spine ends. Gilt remains sharp and bright. An attractive copy overall, now protected in a custom-made clear archival dust wrapper.

"Selous describes numerous adventures with lions and leopards, particularly near the Zambesi, Zweswi, and Manyami rivers, with additional sport after rhinoceros, eland, and hartebeest. After returning to the Transvaal, he linked with Montague Kerr and travelled into Matabeleland. Selous hunted more lions and rhinoceros, and vividly depicts an elephant hunt near the Zweswi River.
