Both volumes contain a map, illustrations and photographs, line engravings by Chapman and Baines reproduced from the original edition of the books. They give a contemporary pictorial record of the expeditions.Fold-out map of the route from Walvis Bay to the Victoria Falls on Page 2 of Vol.1. Seven photographs, taken and developed by Chapman on the Zambezi expedition have been included between pp 10 and 11 of Vol. 2.

Both the bindings and books are all in very good condition.

When originally published in 1868 large sections of the manuscripts were omitted.
