This is a copy of the text only of the first volume without any of the original coppper plate illustrations.
The binding is much later, brown leather spine with gilt titling and blue pebble-grained cloth boards. New end papers. Title page, advertisement page, then paginated from one to 207, including the 5 pages of Preface and 7 pages of Introduction.
CONDITION DETAILS: A reference copy for the text. The title page is soiled. The remaining pages have less soiling/foxing. The front hinge is broken, so the book is attached to the binding at the rear only. The free front end paper has \"The Maize Library\" sticker and a book seller\'s stamp.
