All three volumes have their original dust jackets. Original maroon-red cloth boards with gilt titling on the spines and the publisher's decorative device on the upper boards. Volume one has xv prelims and is paginated to page number 703 and volume two continues the pagination from page 704 to 1479 and the third volume takes the pagination to page number 2235. Each of the three volumes has 8 full page photographic colour plates, giving a total of 24 colour plates. Each volume is profusely illustrated with black and white photographic illustrations, line drawings, etc.
CONDITION DETAILS: An image of the pen name of Lionel Kreutzer on the free front end paper of volume three is provided. The dust jacket of volume three has a 6cm long closed tear on the upper side. Although the dust jackets still have a reasonably fresh appearance they have several flaws including chipped spines, soiling, etc.
