Issued with the approval of the government of the Cape of Good Hope. With a fold-out map shewing the distribution of trout in Cape Colony, the rivers proclaimed for fishing, and lines of railway open for travel. Well illustrated with b&w and color illustrations. Contents: Introduction, The Western Province, Fishing Results, the Eastern Province, Municipal Reservoirs, The Transkeian Territories, General, Indigenous fish, Trout, Rods and taclle. Includes a "Permit for fly fishing". Full leather boards with gilt lettering to front and spine. Board edges and spine worn with some loss, light scattered foxing on first pages and map. Cape Piscatorial Society stamp with inscription on flep. This is probably the oldest title on angling published in Africa.
