1. William H. BROWN album (10 x 8in; 254 x 203mm): c. 120 photos mounted on 44 leaves of lined paper. Most images with explanatory text: in addition to group images of family and friends (Brown, Burdine, Petersen an others), locations pictured include Chicago; Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Killborn, Wisconsin; Mirror Lake, Wisconsin; Delton, Wisconsin; Hampton Roads, Virginia; Coney Island, NY; Hunter Island; Pelham, NY. Within a modern thin card folder.
2. Harriet A PUTNAM album (12 x 10in; 305 x 254mm). 66 leaves with c. 560 mounted photos. and a few postcards. Locations are mostly not identified but look to be on the east coast, in the the main, and include Worcester, Mass.; Mammoth Caves, Virginia; Washington, D.C.; Niagara Falls; and elsewhere. There is also a small group of 12 photos recalling Samuel Lauren Putnam's time in Liberia, West Africa. Original cloth.
Condition: fading to photos., some tape repairs, but acceptable; bindings acceptable.
Life in America in the first third of the 20th-century: the family life, holidays, excursions are all captured here in these two interesting albums.
