Scarce first edition of 1859 of this resuming of travel in Egypt and High Nubia written by the chemist from Milan Giuseppe Forni chief in Egypt of an industry of gunpowder then president of the Comittee of Alessandria.
He began this travel in 1819 until 1840 looking for mines.
The work is made up of two volumes and it is complete.Forni describes Egypt from a geological point of view (es. eg lake and sea shells), artistic with description of ancient egyptian monuments, religion, science (astronomy), history, usages and customs (entertainments, opium canapa hashish, burings, deseases, arts, cooking, ancient pyramids, Menfi, zoology, Kenneh, Zabarah, dresses and habitudes of men and women, superstitions), Assuan, Nubia, Cairo, Ancient Egypt ecc..
Appendix at the end: catalogue of shells found in the african coasts of Arabian Gulf.There are two prints in the frontspice and four out of text prints engraved by Santamaria and Salvioni showing two views of mountains of Abureich, Mohammed Ali, Ibrahim Pascia.
