The first edition was printed in 1804, this second edition is undated but would not have been printed long before 1821, as the third edition was printed in that year by the same publisher as the second edition.
'Forty-two pages are devoted to notes on the Cape, were the author was stationed from 1796-1801. He gives some account of the forts in Cape Town and its vicinity, with a description of the Hottentots and [Natives], and the wild beasts found in the colony.' - Mendelssohn Vol.II, page 209.
