How it works

This is the second impression of the first UK edition of this major work, arguably the most important play of the 20th. century. It was published in February 1956, the same year as the first impression and appears identical in all respects (including the dustwrapper) to it with the exception of the line stating second impression on the copyright page. It is offered with an affordable reserve price to collectors who find the first impression out of their reach.

Condition: The yellow cloth and red spine lettering are bright and as new. There is mild offsetting to the endpapers but this would seem to be less than is usual in this title. The previous owner's name on both pastedowns under the dustwrapper flaps has been blacked out (see image) - apart from this the book would have been described as fine as it is very clean and appears unread. The dustwrapper is complete and still has the 9s6d. price on the front flap which is unclipped. There are some small fishmothing holes at the lower rear panel on the unprinted white strip adjacent to the spine (see image) - apart from this small defect the wrapper would also have been described as fine.
