An elusive and important survey of Battiss' art, three years before his death in 1982. 24 pages, colour and black and white plates, foreword, chronological biography, oils, watercolours, ink drawing, woodcuts, silkscreens, etchings and work on loan.
A very nice association copy signed, inscribed and with a small drawing by Battiss (see pic 3). The Hannah in the inscription is Durban sculptor Hannah Lurie. Her work includes sculptures of Professor Elizabeth Sneddon and Advt. R.K. Khan (R.K. Khan Memorial Hospital). Her pieces can be seen in many corporate and public galleries in South Africa.
A very good copy in the original thin card pictorial wrappers as issued. The front cover has some discolouration, probably due to the catalogue being stored with another book on top of it (see pic 2).
Some minor foxing and the first few pages have a crease in them (see pic 5), overall very good, the contents clean, tight and bright. A very pleasing little copy, especially with the provenance and the distinctive little Battiss doodle.
