The book tells of a shooting trip on the Dinder River district of Anglo-Egyptian Sudan. In his Preface, the author writes that 'it had This book set out to be the history of a hunting expedition, but turned into a record of conversations with and between Arabs; of camp politics in the wilderness and his interactions with the Sudanese.
