The book tells the story of journalist Myrna Blumberg who was arrested in South Africa in 1960. The arrest happened during a crackdown by the South African authorities following the attempt on the life of Prime Minister Hendrik Verwoerd. Blumberg was arrested in the early hours of the morning and detained for an extended period by the South African authorities,not being allowed to see her family and young son for months. The book gives a detailed account of her imprisonment and the background of Apartheid in South Africa in the 1960's.
