1. William Kentridge: Drawings for Projection: Four Animated Films by Michael Godby. Goodman Gallery, 1991. Unpaginated exhibition catalogue with numerous colour reproductions, 21cm by 25cm softcover.
2. William Kentridge: Stop Here. Editions Jannink, Paris, 2016.
Notebook from the artist featuring fountain pen drawings and writings with inserted typescripts.
The tree is the main figure in this book. Here we find the main codes which belong to the artist—palimpsest and repetition. The pages create an analogy between book and tree, which is represented as the mother-source of creation before being transformed in a gibbet. Kentridge pursues his meanders where he evokes the smell of bakelite, vermouth risotto, a cemetery in the Congo, Sibyl, Cranach etc.
Softcover with dust jacket, 52 pages.
