"Schillings, a German, was an astute observer and photographer
of African wild life besides being an able big game hunter. Much of
his photographic efforts were in the brush country near Mt. Kilimanjaro
and the Njiri Swamps in old German East Africa. There are numerous
instances of hunting elephant, rhino, buffalo, hippo, lion, leopard and
various species of antelope. The author was a pioneer of night photography
and captures wonderful images of predators on the prowl. His photo of a thorn
bush thicket makes one wince!", [Czech, pg.142: An Annotated Bibliography
of African Big Game Hunting Books, 1785 to 1950].
