Best known for his collaborations with Sir Arthur Sullivan in producing the librettos for the Savoy operas, Gilbert was a well known dramatist, librettist, poet and illustrator. His play Pygmalion and Galatea was one of his best known works prior to his association with Sullivan. This is a 2pp. 8vo. als. on folded paper with integral blanks with the printed letterhead - Grim's Dyke, Harrow Weald and dated 26th.Ap.01. It is written to a Mrs. Hayman and concerns charges for production of Pygmalian and Galatea reduced to 3 Guineas, but that he would allow production to be free of charges if the takings are "handed over intact to a charity". A nice letter and letters discussing his works are fairly uncommon. In very good condition.
