This uncommon item gives a fascinating account of the sinking of the British cruiser HMS Pegasus in Zanzibar harbour by the German cruiser SMS Königsberg during WW1.The author looks at the the design and history of both ships, and goes on to describe the hunt for and revenge destruction of the German cruiser in the Rufiji delta. Both sides salvaged equipment from their sunken vessels. The book also describes the overhaul of armaments from the Pegasus, which were fitted with carriages and wheels and used in in coastal defences.
