A printed paper money note value 2s.6d. Stg., No. 1957, dated Pretoria, 6 January 1869, Hand signed by M.W. Pretorius, Staats President, Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek. Pretorius was a famous Voortrekker, son of the Voortrekker leader Andries Pretorius. He was the first President of the Transvaal from 1857 - 1860 and served a second term from 1864 - 1871. He founded the city of Pretoria in 1855 and named it after his father & uncles. A single sheet printed, with the coat of arms of the Z.A.R., signed by Pretorius,C.F. Joubert (Lid der Commissie) & another (Unknown - Lid v.d. Uitv. Raad). See \"AFRICANA CURIOSITIES [1973]\" edited by Anna H.M.
