Publisher's beige cloth binding with titles to front panel and spine.
Cloth split along the top end of the front hinge. Some light foxing to front and rear endpapers. Original owner's gift inscription from the month of publication (22-11-48) on front endpaper. Internally clean.
Dust jacket is from a slightly later impression. Dust jacket is complete but has age-associated wear and tear. Original price intact.
2.) TOO LATE THE PHALAROPE
First edition, first impression of Paton's second novel.
Published in Cape Town by Frederick L. Cannon for Jonathan Cape, London, 1953.
Publisher's brown hardcover binding with titles to front panel and spine.
Binding sound. Internally clean but with contemporary Xmas gift inscription on front endpaper and also a later gift inscription from 1981.
Original bookseller's ticket "Van Schaik's Bookstore, Pretoria" at the bottom of front paste down.
Dust jacket price clipped but otherwise in very good condition.
