Kathleen Liesching was a fifth generation South African of German, Dutch and 1820 British Settler descent who married an Irishman, Josph Patrick McMagh.
Her great-great-grandfather Dr Liesching, came to South Africa as surgeon to the Wurtemburg Regiment in 1787. Her father fought in the Gaika-Galeka war in the 1870's and played a part in the Jameson Raid. He was taken prisoner at Doornkop, but later released through the good offices of Commandant-General Piet Joubert.
Also some stories throgh the Boer War, farming in East Griqualand, mining interests in Barberton, Komatipoort.
