The author was in charge of the 1898 - 1900 expedition to Marotseland which was supported by grants from the Royal Geographical Society, Sir John Ardagh of British Military Intelligence, and the British South Africa Chartered Company.

Gilt on dec. blue boards. teg. 275pp illustrated 8vo

No inscription but ownership stamp. Spine dulled, mostly square corners with minor rubbing, front board very clean and most attractive. small split head of spine, rear hinge starting but still sound. In accordance with the List of Illustrations there is one folding map bound in opposite p.86 and one giant folded map on thick paper in rear pocket, both are in excellent condition with no tears.
