316 pages with 14plate illustrations, including the portraiture frontispiece. With a large foldout map at the end. The map has a 3cm closed tear above the central long fold at the hinge point.

The casing is clean and gilt titling is clear. The head and tail of the spine-band are softened. Library number neatly to the spine-band. Board corners are gently bumped. Pasted into the front end-papers are the Library rules of the Henry Martin Library (dated 1910).
