First Edition: 4 volumes, 404 + 624 + 510 + 487 pages, many illustrations, maroon faux leather, a fine set in the slip case.
An unnumbered set of a projected edition to be limited to 200 sets.
Apparently this set of four volumes was a trial edition preceding the six volume edition of the ARCHIVES which was issued in 2000 at a price of £1200 or R30,000 with some added material.
Very few copies appear to have been sold mainly to libraries.
'The official sources relating to the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 are to be found in various archival repositories in South Africa and the United Kingdom. Many were printed in the British Parliamentary Papers, the Colonial Office Confidential Print and the London Gazette. These despatches were presented in the order they were received, meaning that the reader has to winnow them from others that do not touch on the Anglo-Zulu War, and then organise them chronologically by topic. The same applies to the parliamentary debates reported in Hansard. This task has been undertaken by the editors of the Archives Of Zululand: The Anglo-zulu War, making this selection an invaluable, handy resource for researchers and those with a specialist interest in the Anglo-Zulu War. The official sources have been supplemented by contemporary official and unofficial publications that are rare and difficult to come by, thus adding to the usefulness of the Archives.' Editor’s note.
