'In this book the 350 year history of the many horse breeds in South Africa - which in the past made a contribution to the Cape Horse, the Hantam horse, the Basotho Pony and now the SA Boer horse - is presented in print by Dr. du Toit.
Since 1915, this book is the first comprehensive work that documents the historical and cultural aspects of the history of the "native" South African horse.' - translated from the editor's note
