Fo, various pp, full-leather hardcover bindings, 5 raised bands, gilt lettering to spines, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt, fixed lint bookmarks, in cloth-covered clamshell boxes, each with leather spines with gilt lettering.

8 of the 10 volumes come with a loosely inserted compliments slip from Harry Oppenheimer, the slip in the second volume is handwritten by Oppenheimer.

Presentation set ‘V’ of only 25 in this limitation following the letters of the alphabet.

Condition: Overall very good-fine. Slight and small spots of scuffing and rubbing to the clamshell boxes. ‘The Cape of Good Hope’ volume has minor spots of foxing to half title page, and its clamshell box has some stains to inside of front and rear at edges, similar but lesser stains to clamshell box of ‘Britain at the Cape’. Some of the clamshell boxes have spots of stains to top edges inside. The clamshell box of ‘Robert Jacob Gordon Vol. 1’ has a small chip to leather slip with letter on spine. Light indentation to front of clamshell box of ‘Robert Jacob Gordon Vol. 2’. Some fading to leather slips with titles of books on first 3 volumes’ boxes. The books are all in fine condition, well protected by the sturdy boxes, each solidly bound, and texts and plates/illustrations are clean and clear. Please also see photos.
