Signed and dated by Mark & Delia Owens on title page.
Mark and Delia Owens both studied at the University of Georgia, where they met and married. In 1974 they moved to Botswana and set up camp in a very remote area, studying lions and brown hyenas. Their lives are well documented in the book. Delia Owens became especially interested in the behaviour of lionesses who remained in birth groups and maintained strong ties for life, whereas male lions moved in and out of prides. After leaving Botswana, the Owens lived in the Luanga Valley, Zambia, observing elephants and combating poaching. The Owens are now separated and Delia went on to write a novel, WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING, which became a worldwide bestseller and the subject of a 2022 film.
