Bookplate for a prize won during a 1935 voyage of the Watussi. This book was awarded as a prize to Fraulein S. Oppenheim for winning at Ping Pong on board.
The Watussi was a German passenger and cargo ship that was used during the 1930s as an escape route for many German Jewish families. In 1939 the ship was scuttled by her crew south of Cape Point after being intercepted by a South African Airforce reconnaissance bomber.
