The storage box is in poor condition, down to the bare cardboard with a missing end piece (it is actually inside the box). The cover is somewhat brittle and damage along the spine is as seen in the photos, having an effect on the binding.
Pages are clean.
The Shanghai Volunteer Corps (S.V.C.) was established in 1853 and disbanded in 1937 with the Japanese invasion. Originally created to provide defence for the foreign settlement in Shanghai.
An envelope post-marked Shanghai April 31, 1937 was found inside the book and is included.
