"The main portion of the treatise is devoted to the foods in the dietary of the Pedi: the sources from which the foods are obtained, the classification of the food, the preparation of the food, and so forth. Dr Quin's thoroughness may be judged from the fact that he had nearly all these "dishes" prepared for him by Pedi women and consumed them, apparently with relish. Even those items on the "menu" which consisted mainly of dried insects, caterpillars and other "grubs" seem to have their attractions."
