After 18 months national service in the Rhodesian army, Nick Tredger joined the Department of National Parks and Wildlife in 1978 as a cadet ranger. He worked in the remote Chizarira National Park in difficult and dangerous conditions. He later worked Wankie and was later warden of Mana Pools National Park.
After his best friend was brutally murdered by Mugabe's North Korean-trained 5th Brigade he decided he had had enough and resigned and moved to South Africa.
