While bibliographical records indicate this publication came from Franckh in Stuttgart, the title page here has a paste-over with the name of a well-known dealer in art books during that time, Christian Stoll of Plauen. The sheet of introductory text appears to be missing; the title page is in rough condition, with the edges chipped. The portfolio boards are new. Since the first year of this series supposedly contains 48 plates, and since there are 96 plates present here, presumably this portfolio is the first two groups of a series of six or more. Plates in good condition.
