HEROES OF THE MATABELE WAR
Unveiling of a Memorial at York Minister. (England).
Gives a report of the unveiling of a memorial to Captain Frederick Kershaw and Captain Francis Shadwell, both of the York and Lancaster Regiment. Kershaw was killed in action in The Matopo Hills on August 11, 1896. Shadwell died in Bulawayo whilst on active service on September 7, 1896.
The Memorial is fixed to the wall of the south choir aisle immediately facing the Zonche Chapel.
Note: We have contacted York Minister requesting a photo of the memorial. They have recently cataloged and photographed all memorials and are checking their records for this one. A photo is hopefully on its way.
