India was one of the most steadfast adversaries of segregated cricket in South Africa. When change happened, they became the staunchest of friends. In 1991 Clive Rice led a tour of India and in 1992 an Indian team, led by Mohammed Azharuddin, toured the Republic. Containing players such as Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar and Anil Kumble they battled it out with locals led by Kepler Wessels, Jimmy Cook, Omar Henry, Allan Donald, Jonty Rhodes and Adrian Kuiper. It was an epic series and confirmed South Africa's re-inclusion in world cricket.
