Copy No. 4 of the Collectors' Edition limited to 90 copies.

Quarter Morocco leather over marbled boards with gilt lettering on spine. A fine copy, without slipcase.

Barbara Jeppe passed away on 19 of June 1999, before the publication of this book.

This book of artwork compliments information about the history of the iris - its role in mythology from France to the Orient and its significance in art and emblems - with practical notes on cultivation. Full size art reproductions detailing 38 iris species and cultivars support descriptions and notes on the origin of each different type of iris, whilst notes about the optimum location of irises in the garden represent one of the many useful pieces of gardening advice offered. Each specimen has been painted from a growing plant and shows both the bud and the full flower.
