Folded single sheet document, hand written with episcopal seal attached.

Robert Gray, first Bishop of Cape Town, was concecrated in 1847 and arrived in Cape Town in 1848. This letter details the establishment of a Dean and Chapter, appointing William Abiah Newman as Dean, and Nathaniel James Merriman, Thomas Earle Welby and Henry Master White as members of the Chapter.
