'Military Memoirs of Four Brothers, (Natives of Staffordshire,) engaged in the Service of their Country, as well in the New World and Africa, as on the Continent of Europe. By the Survivor.'

xi + 275 pages.

'In this volume there is an account of the capture of the Cape of Good Hope in 1806, the writer, who was present at the landing of the troops, observing that, after some difficulty, they landed at Lospord's Bay, a fact confirmed by the author of the biography of General Baird. Theal, however, states that the troops went ashore on the Blauberg coast (somewhere in the vicinity), and Wilmot asserts that the locality was Sospiras Bay. Lospord's Bay (of which there is a view in the volume) is shown on Burchell's map, published in 1822, but not on Barrow's, published in 1795-6. There is also a description of the expedition against Buenos Ayres under Sir Home Popham.' - Mendelssohn Vol.I, page 543
