182pp with some Black and white line drawings by Leyden. Green linen with red title to spine , with pictorial colour dustjacket. Minor foxing to end papers. Dustjacket has small pieces on edges missing. Signature of previous owner JP Duminy 1947.
Duffus was the doyen of cricket correspondents, who travelled with the South African team. From dustjacket “ In Cricketers of the veld, Duffus tells the story of South African Cricket and cricketers covering some twenty years, and includes character studies of several South African players... the narrative is based on Duffus’ six cricket tours (England, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa).”
With the book are five Black and white photographs of cricketers of the period. One is identified as SA vs Scotland in Perth 1929. All are marked from same film number

Both books prior owner was Jacobus Petrus Duminy (16 December 1897 – 31 January 1980), a South African academic who became principal and vice-chancellor of the University of Cape Town. As a young man, he was also a South African first class cricketer who played in three Tests from 1927 to 1929.
