London: [printed by The Arden Press, W.H. Smith & Son for] William Heinemann, 1925. Royal quarto reprint of Medici Society edition of 1924. Large quarto. Pp. [i-]xxiv, 1-206-[208]. 1 folding coloured lithographic map, 117 plates (3 folding) after photographs by the author.
Original dark blue buckram cloth, now with some discolouring on the spine and boards. A very good copy.
While primarily a book of the author's adventures photographing African big game, there are a few instances of hunting rhino and elephant, the latter in British East Africa's Lorian Swamp. Maxwell describes his battery of cameras and equipment much the way a shikari would describe his rifles. The author is quick to point out that he keeps a .600-bore handy. Needless to say, the photographic images are striking. (Bibliography of African Big Game Hunting Books - Czech)
